Dinamo Zagreb vs Krasnodar – UEFA Europa League Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Round of 32 return leg, with Dinamo Zagreb taking on Krasnodar on Thursday the 25th of February, 2021, at Stadion Maksimir.

Things went great for Dinamo last week in Krasnodar, probably better even then what they were expecting. They took the lead not once, not twice, but three times, and the third one they protected it, to leave Russia with a precious 2-3 victory. That means they can… afford even to lose, as long as it’s by one goal, and they don’t concede more than two (0-1, 1-2). Their current form reads; WWWWL. They did not play last weekend in Croatia’s championship, their Sunday match in Split versus Hajduk got postponed. Osijek beat Rijeka, meaning that Dinamo and Osijek are now hand-in-hand at the top of the table, on 48 points each, but with Dinamo having a game in hand. They have 15W, 3D and 3L in their national championship, with 52 goals scored and 22 conceded. Coach Zoran Mamić played a 4-3-2-1 formation in Krasnodar last week, with Petković up front. He scored their first two goals, in the 15th and the 54th minute. Nigerian Atiemwen came off the bench in the 64th minute, and scored the winner in the 75th.

They say teams “win as one and lose as one”, it’s not really… sportsmanlike to point fingers, but truth is, Krasnodar’s defeat last week to Dinamo has their goalkeeper’s, Gorodov, name all over it. He made a blunder in Dinamo’s first goal, he… went for a walk in the Croatians’ second goal, and he “managed” to allow a third goal in his closed corner, which, turned out, it was not that closed after all. Poor goalkeeping, which Krasnodar paid for, dearly. Their current form reads; LLWLW. On Sunday they lost again, 1-2, to Sochi, in Russia’s Cup, getting eliminated. Coach Murad Musaev played a 4-4-2 formation against Dinamo last week, with Berg and Cabella up front, Berg equalized 1-1 in the 28th minute, set up Claesson for Krasnodar’s 2-2 equalizer in the 69th, but that was not enough even to salvage a draw for the Russian side.

Last week’s game was the first ever between these two.

A 2-1 victory for the hosts is predicted at full-time.
